Our Mission and Vision
At Agape, we exist to introduce people to God by experiencing His son, Jesus Christ. Every worship gathering is centered on Biblical Teaching that will bring into focus His character and transform hearts to pursue him. We also express our gratitude through outward demonstrations of worship to bring inspiration, preparation, and salvation.
Our Story
Rene and Mariela Barrera, residents of Mission, Texas, were preparing for the arrival of their first daughter, Mila, in 2022. During this time, Rene spent more than a decade in Youth and Children's Ministry, when God called Rene and his family to plant a church. In August 2023, they took a leap of faith and began hosting Bible study and fellowship gatherings in their home, starting with pizza nights. What began as a small gathering grew as others joined, united by their passion for faith and community, and inspired by a sense of calling to something greater.

Rene and Mariela Barrera's passion for Christ led to the rapid growth of their Bible study group, forming the foundation of a church. By October 2023, they moved their gatherings to Peñitas, Texas, with support from Family Christian Assembly. In June 2024, the group returned to Mission, Texas, to expand spiritually and numerically. Today, Agape Church thrives as a loving, faith-driven community, inviting all to join in God's transformative work.
